This past friday, Bryson and I set our alarm bright and early to catch the ferry to the island. It had been too long since we visited my dad and now that we were both free for the last few days of August, it was the perfect time to visit him in Tofino. All packed and ready to go, we headed to the ferry terminal and got there with enough time to enjoy a delicious breakfast.
By 8am, we were on the ferry ready for our 6 hour journey from Horseshoe Bay to the Tofino bus depot. Lucky for us, Bryson ran into a few of our old friends from high school getting ready for their own 7 day hiking and camping adventure! After the ferry, we hopped on the Tofino Bus to make our way along the winding roads and through the old growth forests.By the time we reached our destination we were pretty exhausted. We relaxed for the afternoon and later on, we walked along Mackenzie Beach as the sun painted the sky with warm gorgeous shades.
We invited her warmth in, and before I knew it, Bryson’s energy was back and he made his first ascent of a boulder we named “Dangerous without a crash pad or proper climbing shoes”.Next time around, we will remember to pack our gear instead of just flats and sandals.
